Current mood: weird.
I had a Strawberry Basil martini at Kurrent. That’s Current with a K, a backwards K no less, which will be so yesterday tomorrow.
Still the flavor combo of Strawberry & Basil is very today, and it was like my pallet was hit with a mallet. Whammo. There are some (I call them Fans of Scooter) that will balk
at this integration of herb and fruit. I’m not really sure you belong in my fan club. Unless you have an allergy. If you don’t do alcohol, try a strawberry & basil smoothie.
I like it soooo much I am going to slather it all over my body in new soap bars I plan to make for Christmas gifts this year. I’ll send one to Wendy and one to Melanie because I love them. And Shelise. And Mom.
PS: I am also experimenting on Chocolate & Orange bear-shaped shower bars. I’ll report back later.

New Work by Scooter the Photographer, Spring / Summer 2011

Whew. My newly refreshened website is finally completed, and it looks (and feels) spectacular! What I thought would take days actually took months to edit, polish, and assemble. I hope it is well received.

Some of the images are from a January trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Some from recent weddings and portrait shoots. A few are experimental.
I want to thank some very special people who both inspire and push me. Thank you Heather for adding spark and sparkle (literally and figuratively) everywhere you go. I am so happy when I am around you. And thank you Freddie for being a super cool/fun/sexy friend who pushes me to do better and better (and better!). And mostly thanks to Tim. You hold me close and support me in every endeavor. Without you in my life I would probably still be smearing tar on roofs.
And of course thank you to every one of my 625 friends (according to Facebook).

So, now I need to market my work, get some hot jobs, new models, a few booked weddings, practice matting and framing and getting prints made. Work my work.

Slow Shutter on the iPhone

You can get a slow shutter speed on your iPhone with an app called …. ”Slow Shutter”… and it will help you create some
dreamy, blur effects like the image I created below called Color Cups. The app has several adjustment settings like a
a delay timer, tap to focus, and shutter speeds between 1/2 second and 30 seconds.

New Studio Greenscreen

I have a new greenscreen setup in the studio, so now I can magically relocate a baby
in my studio to a baby flying over the moon, if I wanted, which I do.
I’m all in the experimental stage now, but looking forward to creating some fun new images
with grads, models, food, and product shots. Here, Jazmyne, has been magicallly transposed
in front of a new image.

The tiniest stray hairs seem to have worked into the new image with minimal post production.
I’ll be working on lighting my screen more evenly, balancing shadow and light, and whatnot.
I love doing outdoor shoots with natural light and natural backdrops,
but hey, here in Seattle on those blustery days, it’s nice to have a studio and post options
like green screening.

Scooter Lowrimore’s Image Wins at the Worlwide Photo Walk. Hooray!

Here is the image that won at the 3rd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk Contest, Pioneer Square edition, sponsored in part by
The National Association of Photoshop Professionals and Adorama. The walk itself draws over 30,000 participants around the globe.
I made this image during the last few minutes of our group’s walk as we headed to an Irish pub for lunch.
It was July, and the midday sun was not creating the best conditions for most shots, yet between the buildings on this particular
alley just off Occidental Park, I thought wow, look at those lines and shadows, the turn-of-last-century brick and the looming new skyscrapers.
Still, I was surprised when I got an email several weeks later saying my image had won. Nice. I’m looking forward to the 4th annual
walk next summer, and might even lead a group on Capitol Hill. Email me if you’d like to take part.

I’ve been retouching and editing headshots and vintage photographs a bit lately.
Here is an image taken by my good friend and Seattle Photog Rebecca Lawrence.
I retouched it using Photoshop CS5 along with OneOne plugins and few great action
sets from MPC.
